Ingredienten:
- • 500 gram venusschelpen
- • Halve ui
- • 3 teentjes knoflook
- • Halve eetlepel bloem
- • 1 eetlepel paprikapoeder
- • saffraan
- • 1 klein glas witte wijn of visbouillon
- • gehakte peterselie
- • olijfolie

Today we're going to prepare clams in marinara sauce step by step, an original Galician recipe that has spread beyond its borders and is commonly found in many places. Although it depends on the type of clam and the amount we eat, these clams in marinara sauce contain a lot of iron, making them suitable for people who suffer from iron-deficiency anemia. They are especially recommended for people who engage in intense sports, as they experience significant depletion of this mineral, and for pregnant women. In addition, clams contain many other very interesting nutritional properties.
I hope you enjoy these clams in marinara sauce as much as we do. We usually have them as an appetizer on Sundays, and our big little one loves dipping bread into the marinara sauce!
Clams in Marinara Sauce
Ingredients:
• 500 g of clams
• Half an onion
• 3 cloves of garlic
• Half a tablespoon of flour
• 1 tablespoon of sweet paprika
• Saffron
• 1 small glass of white wine or fish stock
• Chopped parsley
• Extra virgin olive oilPreparation of the clams in marinara sauce
Generally speaking, the clams we buy are very well cleaned and contain hardly any sand, but just to be on the safe side, we wash them thoroughly under running
cold water, rubbing them against each other, then drain and set aside. Pour some extra virgin olive oil into a frying pan and gently fry half a chopped onion
along with the chopped garlic cloves, and when they start to brown, add the flour, stirring continuously, and the saffron. Remove the
frying pan from the heat for a few seconds, stir in the sweet paprika and mix well. Return the frying pan to the heat, then add the wine
(ideally an Albariño) – or, if you prefer not to use alcohol, replace it with water or fish stock – and the clams.
As the clams open, transfer them to the serving dish; this will ensure they remain very juicy. Once
you’ve removed the clams (discard any that haven’t opened), pour the sauce over them, sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve.
Are you ready to enjoy these clams marinara-style?…
